2014年重庆成人学位英语作文范文
Directions: You are to write in no less than 120 words on the topic Examinations. You are to take a position, either for or against it, and give your reasons. You should base your composition on the following Chinese notes.
1. 关于考试人们众说纷纭,有人认为考试时一种好的检测方式,有人认为考试并不能检测人的真是能力,简单谈一下你的观点。
Examinations
There are many arguments about examination. Some people think it is a good way to test how examinees have mastered what they have studied and it is an effective way to choose among candidates. So, as a traditional and popular method, it is widely accepted.
However, in some people’s opinion, it is not the most scientific way to test a person’s ability. To some students, examination means nothing but anxiety and heavy burdens. What is more, teachers’ judgments can’t always be impartial. All these will cause frustration to examinees and provoke their strong negative attitude towards examination.
As for me, although the content of examination can hardly cover all the knowledge an examinee has grasped and the result of an examination may show only part of a person’s ability, its function should not be totally ignored. Its basic function is just like a mirror—it reflects both examinees and examiners. Both of them can check their work and learn how to improve it. Of course, there is a long way to go before we could find a simpler and more effectiveway of judging a person’s ability.
