Step 1 Revision
1 Check the homework.
2 Revise the story in Lesson 38. Use the questions in Wb Lesson 38， Ex. 1 to guide the Ss.
Step 2 Reading
SB page 39， Part 1. Give the Ss a few moments to read the dialogue quickly to find out the answer to the question at the top of the page. （Mr Green wants Jim's Chinese teacher to give Jim some work to do during the holiday.）
Then get the Ss to scan the dialogue for the following information：
How long are the Greens going to be on holiday？ What is the name of Jim's Chinese teacher？
When will Mr Green and Mr Zhang talk again？
Step 3 Practice
SB page 39， Part 2. Do the first two with the Ss as an example. The answers to the first two questions are： 1 He says that he will travel back to…。 2 He says that he wants to take them with him. Then let the Ss ask and answer in pairs. Check the answers with the whole class.
Discuss any difficulties that arise.
Note the use of the preparatory subject It in It's true… This means that the real subject of the sentence is the clause that he may fall behind the other students.
Step 4 Acting
SB Lesson 39， Part 1. Speech Cassette Lesson 39. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and repeat. Focus on any problems of pronunciation， stress or intonation. Get the Ss to practise the dialogue in pairs. When they speak， they must look at their partner， not at their books.
Ask some pairs to act out the dialogue. Make sure they use gestures and facial ressions.
Step 5 Workbook
Wb Lesson 39， Exx. 1 and 2.
For Ex. 1 let the Ss work alone. Check the answers with the whole class.
The answers to Ex. 1 are： 1 B， 2 B， 3 C， 4 A， 5 A.
For Ex. 2， dictate the following sentences and then check them with the class.
Tomorrow is Sunday， December 22nd.
We're going to the Western Hills for a picnic. We're going there by bus.
We'll meet at the school gate at seven tomorrow morning.
Everyone should take his own food and drink for lunch.
Everyone should wear sports shoes.
We'll be back home at five tomorrow afternoon.

Finish off the Workbook Ex. 3.
Revise the contents of this unit.
