Studying Abroad

　　The past several years have witnessed a drastic increase in the number of Chinese students who choose to study abroad．As is illustrated by the column chart,the number ofstudents studying overseas has more than doubled from 2008 to 2013，climbing from
180，000 to around 410，000．
　　There are a variety of reasons for studying overseas．First，students can enrich their knowledge and enlarge their horizons by being exposed to entirely new ideas and cultures．Second,an overseas living experience allows a real-life use of a foreign language，so it can improve the efficiency in acquiring second-language skills．Last but not least,many people hold the idea that all overseas diploma from top universities in the world Can provide more competitive advantages for their future careers than a diploma obtained at home．
　　Generally speaking，studying abroad is valuable in one’s personal development． However，people should also be aware that it may not necessarily pay off due to the high financial COSffi and the potential challenges of adapting to a new culture．

　　过去几年见证了中国学生选择出国留学在人数上的急剧增长。如柱状图所示，出国留学人数从2008年的18万增加到2013年的41万，增长了一倍多。
　　选择出国留学的原因有很多。首先，通过接触新的思想和文化，学生可以增长知识，拓宽视野。其次，国外生活经历可以使外语在实际生活得以使用，从而提高掌握外语技能的效率。后但并非不重要的是，很多人认为，同在国内院校获得的文凭相比，从国外院校获得的文凭能给自己未来的职业发展带来更多竞争优势。
　　总的来说，出国留学对于个人发展是很重要的。但是，人们也应该意识到，由于较高的经济开支和适应新的文化带来的潜在的挑战，出国留学未必一定带来好的结果。
