being a laid off worker is not terrible. the only thing that is terrible is you dont know what to do and lose your confidence. in fact, there are many ways leading to success. here, i want to provide some suggestions for the people who are laidoff workers.
first, if they have some money, they can use it to do some business. for example, they can open a small shop, selling food, drinks, ice creams, or even flowers. second, if they dont have much money, they can learn a skill. for example, they can learn how to sew clothes, how to cook, how to type, etc.please always remember: where there is a will, there is a way.

on housing reform
the old house allotting policy had at least two disadvantages. first, the government spent a lot of money building some houses, but these houses were allotted to people free of charge. thus, the government would have no money to build more houses for people who badly needed them. second, the persons who were in power could get more houses than those who were powerless. this was quite unfair.
on the contrary, the new system of house allotment may bring about many new things. for example, the government will have more buildingswhich can be sold to people. the chances for them will be equal.
when i enter the society, i would get a loan from the bank to buy my own house. then, i would try to pay back the loan as soon as possible. after that, i would proudly claim, now, i am the master of that house.

wealth and happiness
everybody wants to get wealth. in todays material world, making money or becoming wealthy symbolizes a persons success and capability. many people just make every effort, pay any price to attain greater wealth. with money, they can buy nice, large apartments in nice neighborhood. with money they can own luxurious cars. wealth seems to bring all happiness in life.
but is wealth the only road to happiness? not really. there are many things in the world, which are beyond the means of money, such as friendship, love, health and knowledge. money people are so preoccupied with struggling for money that they have no time or would not take the time to form or maintain friendship. what happiness can they feel living as lonely miserable creatures without love or friends in the world even if they accumulate tremendous wealth?
in my opinion, people cant do anything without money, but money is not everything. what money will bring you depends on your personal belief and goal in life. if you are kind enough to help others, especially the poor, money is a good thing to you. with it, you can do much more for the benefit of people and your country, and it will add to your own happiness. if you want money just for your own needs, youll never be satisfied or happy. in a word, you should have money spent for more people, only then can money be the source of your happiness.

problems brought about by automobiles
although the automobile has brought convenience to us, many people have begun to realize that it is the source of trouble as well. because of too many automobiles, traffic accidents happen again and again all over the world. worst of all, gases sent out by the automobiles give rise to air pollution and do great harm to people.
in order to solve the problem of air pollution, some automobile manufacturers are trying to build a car that does not pollute environment, and some inventors are working on cars powered by steam and electricity. but now this is only a dream for people.
the governments in some countries, for example, in the united states, are trying to reduce the number of privately owned cars and ask the people to use public transportation. but this is also far from being perfect, so now it is very difficult to make some dramatic changes. we still have a long way to go in order to solve the problems brought by automobiles.
